Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the world.  Generally considered a neurological disorder, autistic children often face additional health challenges, including digestive difficulty, sensitivity, and intestinal inflammation.
Enzymedica is a long time supporter of the autism community, and a founding member of the nonprofit foundation, the Autism Hope Alliance . Enzymedica’s investment has focused on research and education to promote awareness of the diagnosis, and its associated digestive concerns.  This will continue as part of their “Hope In Every Bottle Campaign.”

Digest Spectrum™

Enzymedica is excited to introduce Digest Spectrum, the latest addition to the Digest™ product lineup, and the flagship product of the “Hope in Every Bottle Campaign.”  Specifically formulated to address multiple food sensitivities, Digest Spectrum offers support for lactose, gluten, casein, and phenol digestion, and is a perfect companion for individuals on restrictive diets.  “Common diet modifications for children on the autistic spectrum include gluten-free, casein-free, and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet” shares Kristin Selby Gonzalez, Enzymedica’s Director of Autism Education, “and supportive enzymes are often used.”  With no corn, rice, soy, potato, gluten, casein, sugar, or fillers, Digest Spectrum is the ideal digestive aid for individuals with multiple sensitivities.

Hope in Every Bottle

Enzymedica will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of Digest Spectrum to the autism community. The donation will go to the Autism Hope Alliance, which provides hope for families facing the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders.

For every 30 count bottle of Digest Spectrum sold, Enzymedica will donate $1, and for every 90 count bottle the company will contribute $2. This donation can be activated through a unique code on purchased bottles of Digest Spectrum.

Protease Enzymes and Probiotics Work Together for Good Health

Many individuals are taking both enzymes and probiotics to support healthy immune function.  These supplements work hand in hand, promoting healthy digestion, elimination, and overall wellness.

There has been some recent concern that protease taken with probiotics kills both the probiotics consumed orally and the microflora that are already a part of the intestinal ecosystem. This idea is based on the simplistic understanding that protease breaks down protein. Though this is true, it is incomplete.

Plant-based proteases (from aspergillus) have the ability to break down a fairly wide range of proteins in a reasonably wide pH. However, they do not break down all proteins. In order for these proteases to break down proteins, at least one of the following must be met: The protein must be dead, as in the case when we eat protein; the protein must be damaged; the protein must be tagged for removal by the immune system. If these plant-based proteins did indeed break down all proteins, then all red blood cells, white blood cells, muscle tissues, stomach lining, arteries, other enzymes, and practically every other tissue of the body would be in danger.

Another point to consider is the content of the probiotics themselves. They are bacterial organisms, full of enzymes, including proteases. Why don’t the proteases in the probiotic kill the cell? The answer is obvious: the protease in bacteria is specific and does not digest the living protein found in the bacteria itself.

Enzymedica offers a complete line of digestive, therapeutic and supportive enzymes, including America’s top two sellers, Digest™ and Digest Gold™ and the new Digest Basic™.  Our guaranteed potency Pro-Bio™ probiotic formula is enteric coated and features 8 species of healthy microflora with 5 billion CFU in a single capsule serving.

Enzymedica, Inc. Introduces Digest Sprinkles™

Full spectrum dietary enzyme support in a convenient sprinkle delivery system

Digest Sprinkles is the newest addition to Enzymedica’s line of award winning digestive enzyme products, which includes Digest™ and Digest Gold™.

David Barton, Enzymedica’s Director of Education explains, “Digest Sprinkles is a wonderful option for individuals looking for an alternative to swallowing capsules. With no taste or smell Digest Sprinkles is mild enough for the very young or other sensitive individuals.”

Microencapsulated to deliver enzymes directly to the digestive tract, Sprinkles includes enzymes to maximize carbohydrate, protein, and fat digestion. The supplement also includes enzymes for simple sugars, fibrous vegetables and milk sugar.

To create the convenient sprinkle delivery system, the microencapsulated formula was blended with beet root fiber which supports the beneficial bacteria in our gut. With over 300,000 CFU of probiotics in each serving, Sprinkles will help maintain a healthy bacterial balance in the intestine, and contribute to a healthy intestinal environment, intestinal lining and proper assimilation of nutrients.

Barton continues, “Just two to three shakes of Digest Sprinkles over your meal provides the same balancing blend of enzymes as found Enzymedica’s original Digest™ formula. So easy to use: Just sprinkle and enjoy your meal!”

Digest Sprinkles is vegetarian and vegan, and utilizes Enzymedica’s exclusive Thera-blend™ process for the enzymes protease, lipase, amylase, and cellulase. This process blends several different strains of each enzyme to achieve greater activity over a broader pH range. This process increases potency by enabling each enzyme to break down more bonds throughout the entire digestive system and makes them more effective systemically.

Enzymedica offers Digest Sprinkles in a 60 serving bottle size at a suggested retail price of $19.98.
